Australia to London and The Royal Wedding
Around a year ago I made the big move from my hometown in Brisbane, Australia to London. After a few months travelling all around Europe as all us Aussies do I decided it was time to come back to London find a job and somewhere to live. After a little bit of searching I found myself working at The Rembrandt Hotel in Knightsbridge in the reservations department. Although at first it was a bit daunting working in a new country and a new hotel I have slowly started fitting into the ‘London’ way of life.
Since working here I have been brought up to speed on the ins and outs of soccer or football as it is known here from my colleague John, an avid Chelsea supporter. I have also been told all about the must do things whilst I am in London with my list including to see the Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace, to go to the Ascot Races, take a cruise up the Thames, see a football game as well as many other things. But I am not going to lie, the thing I am most looking forward to is definitely the Royal Wedding.
Since the dates were announced I have slowly been getting more and more excited about the big day. I have had my criticism over being so excited for this, although I say why not. I plan to be among the hundreds and thousands of people lined up the get a glimpse of the happy couple of their big day, which although may sound a little corny will be a great addition to my travel journal. Plus how many Royal Weddings does one girl get to see in her life. Just to add to my excitement the hotel has started to order in decorations of all sorts to celebrate the wedding. With red, white and blue being the major theme we have ordered flags to go all around the lobby, colour co-ordinated flowers, Kate and William themed bunting to scatter around and many other themed goodies. My colleague Lesley also gave me the Royal Wedding Trivia Wheel so I have been able to learn all of fun facts and continuously impress everyone around the office. All I can say is hurry up April 29th… I am ready to get my tourist on!
