Granny’s Gaff
So back in November 2010 we received a high profile wedding enquiry, the whole office was buzzing, 200 civil ceremony and 350 guests for the evening reception so … at £85 per person for our Gold Package this was going to be a fantastic occasion.
The Chair covers were ordered with a Cornflower blue sash, dress by Sarah Burton designed, contemporary 8 tiered wedding cake baked and the complimentary menu sampling all done; the couple loved it. Wine tasting was a real success and then 6 weeks to go the guest list had increased to 600, so the couple had to look for an alternative venue. Luckily they had a relative who came to the rescue…. sound familiar.
They had only one option, Granny’s Gaff – with 775 rooms, extensive gardens and the household cavalry how could we compete?
With Granny stepping in, the announcement was made and the date for the wedding of the century was set, and more importantly the announcement of an extra bank holiday. We didn’t really miss out on the ‘biggie’ because two couples jumped at the chance to get married on the same day as a royal couple.
With only a few months to organise a wedding these brides didn’t have the help that Catherine had, however we pride ourselves on being at the end of a phone to help with any questions. We can iron out any worries the happy couple have and we can source any items they need to make that special day as special as ‘The Cambridges’. With the exception of the fly pass.
One couple wanted a Croquet en Bouche wedding cake but didn’t know where to start. With my ‘bible’ at hand I gave a local authentic French patisserie a call to make sure they could provide the most prefect wedding cake.
So when your partner asks you to marry them and you cannot choose between a tower of choux balls or a candle sticking out of a jam tart think where can we go for help with staff that will ease the pressure of this stressful time The Abbey Hotel.
Thousands of weddings took place on 29th April, and it got me thinking, on the day when did William and Catherine change their status to married on facebook and were they the first.
