Walking in the hills

Posted by Evi Karmou | Category : General

Waking up to the birds singing on a Sunday morning slightly hung-over isn’t always a good feeling but seeing that the sun was shining and no clouds in the sky it lead into a long discussion with my boyfriend on how to spend our day.

We finally decided to take his dog for a walk, because Spike doesn’t live us we went to collect him, which then turned into another 30 minute discussion of where to take him. There is really only one place to take a dog for a walk The Malvern Hills, as we are both from Malvern we decided to do the Wyche to Wynds Point, we parked the car and started from the Wyche cutting prepared with water and a bowl for the dog, however 15 minutes into the walk we realised it was far to hot to be walking in 28 degrees heat but Spike was enjoying the walk.

What kept us going was the thought of refreshing pint of local Weston cider at the local pub the either side of the walk (the main reason for us choosing this walk). Soon the we were all lagging including Spike so when we spotted a bench in the shade a 10 minute rest was well due!

Finally an hour later we were sat in the shade with our pint of cider. While sitting in the pub it dawned on us that we needed to walk back to get to the car, Moaning that my feet hurt and the dog giving us a look that he was to tried to walk back we did consider calling a friend up to pick us up and take us back to the car but no he made Me and Spike walk all the way back. The quickest way to walk back was straight over the hills and not on the paths that go around the hills.

So we went the quick way back up and over the hills with the sun on our backs, while burning our backs, quickly releasing that it wasn’t the best way to get back to the car, not only were we walking very slowly and stopping to admire the views, spike was sitting down every chance he could.

I could see the end of our walk in sight, I had a new lease of life and walked very quickly just the thought of sitting in the car was making me walk quicker or maybe it was the sight of cows on the hills we were walking on. Finally reaching our destination we all collapsed into the car.

Even though it was a long and tiring walk we all enjoyed ourselves and have been on the few walks since but not as long.

Why not take a weekend from your busy lives and book our walking package and make your own memories of walking the Malvern Hills or even book our Weston cider package so you to can try the local cider.
