Summer Festivities in Windsor
Hi all,
I know it probably sounds a bit like I am jumping on to the Olympic band wagon, but the atmosphere in Windsor has just been amazing over the last week and the local tourism board has really helped with additional events all around the Eton Dorney Lake events that are happening so close to us.
Windsor Castle was lit up especially for the Olympics and as part of the unveiling of this the ‘Martin Luther King’ marching band from Detroit was in Windsor for several nights, marching from the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel up Thames Street and all the way past the castle.
The band were getting changed in our business centre and you can’t possibly imagine what our hotel guests thought, when 70 teenagers from a high school in Detroit started practising their cheer leading and baton swirling in our car park, prior to the event.
The band consists of music students from the USA aged 14 to 18, who were travelling around the UK this summer, all of them so very talented.
With a lot of our guests having travelled from all over the world for the rowing events, they were especially impressed with the additional effort the hotel and Windsor had made to make them feel welcome and help them enjoy their time here.
The sunshine and our terrace menu have been ideal for all these additional events and I have really enjoyed all of it so far.
See you soon in Windsor!
